What is RSS and how can I use it with BeZao.com?

Yes, RSS is another of those web acronyms, like HTML and CSS and WWW and... (I'll spare you from more of those!) However it is something that you can care about. It stands for Really Simple Syndication and it allows you to easily follow a website and find out when the content has been updated without having to visit the site itself. RSS is commonly found on blogs but it is also being adopted by many other sites that have content that is updated on a regular basis.

So now that you have RSS what do you subscribe to it with? Good question. The software used to subscribe to an RSS feed is called an aggregator. There are two types of aggregators, web-based and desktop-based. There are obvious advantages to both but with a web-based aggregator, you can view any of your subscriptions from any computer. All you have to do is login. The two biggest aggregators available, and both are free, are Google Reader and Bloglines. Both of these are optimized for viewing large amounts of feeds in a fast and efficient manner. However, there are other clients that you can use. MyYahoo, iGoogle, Yahoo Mail, and NetVibes. A more exhaustive list of both web-based and desktop-based clients is available on WikiPedia.

BeZao.com offers an RSS feed to subscribe to that contains the summary of every post on the site.

The following video is an excellent explanation of what whole concept of RSS. (Thanks to Lee LeFever and the Common Craft Show for producing it.)
